Ace javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra set to part ways with coach Klaus Bartonitz
New Delhi: Ace Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra is all set to part ways with long-time coach Klaus Bartonitz after five years together. The hugely successful partnership between the Indian athlete and the German coach is finally coming to an end, it was announced on Tuesday. Bartonitz, 75, cited his age and family commitments for breaking up with Chopra.
“Bartonitz is 75 and he wants to be with his family now and does not want to travel much,” an Athletics Federation of India (AFI) official told the news agency. PTI. “It was Bartonitz who expressed his inability to continue as Neeraj’s coach, not Neeraj’s desire to end the association,” he added.
Neeraj, 26, is a biomechanics expert since 2019 but has been working with Bartonitz, who doubles as Chopra’s coach.
