Allu Arjun helps Wayanad victims Rs.25 lakhs
Allu Arjun is the latest film star to donate to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMDRF) for rehabilitation efforts in Kerala’s landslide-hit Wayanad district.
The state government has revealed that the death toll has reached 219 due to the massive landslides that occurred in the district in the early hours of July 30.
In an ex post, Allu Arjun said that he wants to do his part to help the state that has always given him so much love.. in this difficult time.
“I am deeply saddened by the recent landslides in Wayanad. Kerala has always given me so much love. I would like to do my part by donating Rs.25 lakhs to the Kerala CM Relief Fund to support the rehabilitation programmes. I am praying for your safety,” said the post.
Malayalam film star Mohanlal, who is a lieutenant colonel in the Indian Territorial Army, reached Wayanad in his army uniform on Saturday and donated Rs 3 crore for rehabilitation work in the disaster-hit area.
“The devastation in Wayanad is a deep wound that will take time to heal. Every home lost and life disrupted is a personal tragedy,” the X-Post wrote.
After reaching the army camp in Meppadi, the actor had a brief discussion with the officials and left for the landslide site along with others.
Already Tamil actors Kamal Haasan, Suriya, Jyothika, Karthi, Vikram, Nayanthara, Vignesh Sivan, other Malayalam stars Mammootty, Dulquer Salmaan, Fahadh Faasil, Nazriya, Tovino Thomas have also donated to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMDRF).
Kamala Haasan donated Rs.25 lakhs, Jyothika, Suriya and Karthi donated Rs.50 lakhs together. Mammootty donated Rs.20 lakhs, Dulquer Rs.15 lakhs and Tovino donated Rs.25 lakhs. Fahad and Nazria donated Rs.25 lakhs.
Veteran filmmaker Anand Patwardhan has donated Rs 2.2 lakh won as prize money at the recently concluded 16th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK).
