Visakhapatnam: Andhra University (AU) has secured seventh position in the New State Universities category of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024. The ranking released by the Union Education Ministry on Monday is AU’s first entry. That’s a huge jump from last year’s 76th place and is currently ranked 41st nationally.
Prof. G. Sasibhusana Rao, Vice-Chancellor, appreciated Nara Lokesh, Minister of State for Human Resource Development, for his leadership. He highlighted the AU Union’s efforts to promote research and academic excellence. Professor Rao said the university aims to be among the top 10 universities in the country’s overall rankings next year. In addition to the overall ranking, AU has also improved in various areas. It rose from 43rd to 25th in the academic category and from 94th to 90th in the engineering category. The Faculty of Pharmacy achieved good results, ranking 34th, and the Faculty of Law, ranking 16th. Among other regional institutions, Acharya Nagarjuna University ranked 97th overall and Osmania University ranked 70th.
