Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government will rebuild houses for flood victims who lost their homes in the floods and plans to provide compensation for vehicles damaged in the recent floods.

An official press release said on Friday that torrential rains in Vijayawada and flooding of Budameru river caused havoc due to low pressure in the Bay of Bengal recently, while all seven districts were affected.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the flood damage at the Secretariat and the government plans to provide various levels of compensation to those who lost household goods and belongings.

The press release said that new houses will be constructed as per government norms for those who have been totally damaged by the floods and the government will call for financial assistance after the flood damage calculation process is completed.

The CM said that the aid can be distributed on September 17 if the flood damage assessment is completed.

According to preliminary estimates, more than 2.13 lakh houses have been submerged in floods, of which 84,505 houses have been assessed for damage.

Furthermore, thousands of cars, two-wheelers and auto-rickshaws were also damaged by the floods and crops in 2.14 lakh hectares were also damaged.
