According to 2023 Nature Journal, a total of 574 sky rivers were formed in India between 1951-2020. The heaviest flying rivers that have formed in the last two decades are responsible for 80 percent of the floods. Studies have shown that 7 such flying rivers are associated with the 10 worst floods in India during monsoons between 1985-2020. In recent times, however, water from the Indian Ocean has turned into steam, and the formation of flying rivers has increased enormously.
