Awareness of right to vote through petrol stations

Amaravati: State Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena has asked representatives of oil industries to create awareness among people about the right to vote through petrol stations across the state. On Wednesday morning, he held a meeting with the representatives of the oil industries of HPCL, IOCL and BPCL in his chamber at the State Secretariat and discussed the conduct of voter awareness programs.

On this occasion, he said that the Election Commission of India has ordered that voter awareness programs should also be conducted by the oil industry as part of the SVEEP – Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation program. Voter awareness programs have already been undertaken by the postal department and it has been requested to conduct voter awareness campaign in the same manner through all the petrol stations across the state. Designs of hoardings with ECI logo and slogans conveying the election date and the value of the right to vote will be provided. He requested that hoardings should be set up at all the petrol stations across the state using them and thus conduct awareness campaign among the voters. Homi said that all representatives of oil companies responded positively to CEO Mukesh Kumar Meena’s proposals and would take appropriate action immediately.
