Sheikh Hasina: It is known that Bangladesh, which has been struggling for a few days with anti-reservation agitations, has gone into the hands of the military rulers. With this, Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister of Bangladesh. After that she left the country. Currently Sheikh Hasina is in India. There are reports that she may go to London (United Kingdom) where her sister lives from India. However, according to British media reports, the UK has rejected Hasina’s request for political asylum. So she is in India. She will stay in India for few more days. Hasina sought asylum in the UK. The Indian government has given temporary permission to hide in India pending those permits. However, there is no clarity on how many days she will be in India. It seems that Hasina will stay in India till the permission from UK.

In the wake of the latest developments in Bangladesh, Bangladesh-India border crossings have been temporarily stopped. The government has deployed additional BSF forces to the borders. The United Nations has said that it is constantly reviewing the situation in Bangladesh, including Sheikh Hasina’s resignation. It called to ensure that no further incidents of violence take place.
