Bumrah regains top spot in ICC Test rankings, Jaiswal climbs to No.3
India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah returned to the top of the ICC Test bowling rankings after taking six wickets in the second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur.
The 30-year-old replaced his Indian teammate Ravichandran Ashwin — Player of the Series against Bangladesh — at the top of the chart. Spinner Ravindra Jadeja maintains his sixth position while fellow spinner Kuldeep Yadav continues with 16 runs.Th position
In batting, player of the match from the Kanpur Test, Yashaswi Jaiswal reached a career-high number three after just 11 Tests. Jaiswal played brilliantly with 72 and 51 and India won the match by seven wickets in the rain. With 792 rating points, the 22-year-old is second behind Kane Williamson (829) and Joe Root (899).
Also, veteran batsman Virat Kohli returned to the top 10 in Kanpur, climbing six places to sixth after 47 and 29 runs. Rishabh Pant also remained in the top 10, dropping three places to ninth, while captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill were 15th and 16th respectively.
As for the all-rounders, there is no significant change in the rankings, with Jadeja at the top spot, Ashwin at second and Akshar Patel at seventh.
In the team rankings, India are second with 120 rating points, separated from leader Australia by four points, while England remain third with 108 points.
Meanwhile, the Indians have a points percentage of 74.24 per cent after 11 matches in the World Test Championship (WTC) table, higher than second-placed Australia (62.50 per cent in 12 Tests).
