New Delhi: Diabetes is one of the major Health problems worldwide. In India, the prevalence of type 1 diabetes is steadily increasing among children and adolescents, with 30 cases per 100,000 people in some urban areas. There is still no cure for diabetes, however, it can be managed, but in a recent development, Chinese scientists claim to have cured a Type 1 diabetes patient using a cell transplant, in what is said to be the first case. the globe

How did Chinese scientists cure type 1 diabetes?
The woman involved in the procedure is from Tianjin, China, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 11 years ago and has also undergone two liver transplants and a failed pancreatic islet cell transplant. Researchers from Tianjin First Central Hospital and Peking University received approval for clinical research in June this year and have since transplanted their first patient.
According to the report, “Chemically Induced Pluripotent Stem-Cell-Derived Islets” or CiPSC islets are used to carry out the treatment process. After the CiPSC islet transplant was performed, the patient’s fasting dietary glucose levels returned to normal and the patient’s dependence on exogenous insulin gradually decreased. The patient did not require insulin injections for 75 days after surgery. Moreover, the improvement lasted for a year. A woman experiences significant changes in her blood sugar levels and some episodes of severe hypoglycemia.
