Congress : Emergence of ‘LGBTQIA’ section of Congress party. Mario de Penha as the first president.

Tirupati Times, National Bureau: The All India Professionals Congress (AIPC) wing of the Congress party has set up a special unit for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex communities. It is called ‘LGBTQIA+ Vertical’. Social activist and noted historian Mario de Penha was appointed by the Congress party as its first president. He was also among those who filed petitions in the Supreme Court seeking legalization of marriages of LGBTQIA communities.

Overall, in this announcement, Congress became the first political party in our country to form a separate section for the LGBTQIA community. In fact, in the year 2020, an LGBT wing was formed in the Congress party. But it did not work as none of it was appointed.
