Death toll in Wayanad reaches 133

Kerala Landslide: In Wayanad, nature has created an unprecedented destruction. Over a hundred people lost their lives in their sleep due to landslides caused by torrential rains. The scenes of destruction in the pictures taken from the drones send shivers down the spine. Even though the Army, Air Force and Navy have increased the speed of the rescue operations, the dead bodies are coming out in heaps. The death toll reached 126 by Wednesday morning. Many people trapped under the rubble were rescued by rescue personnel. As many as 133 people are being treated in hospitals with injuries. Another 100 people are missing. The search for them continues under the rubble. Army dogs are being used to locate those stuck in the mud.

Wayanad Landslide

Four villages were washed away due to landslides and floods. In areas like Mepaddi, Mundakkai, Churalmala, Attamala and Noolpuja in the district, landslides occurred due to heavy rains, leaving residences under rubble. On the other hand, as the relief operations continue in Wayanad, alarming things are revealed. Recently 600 migrant workers went missing. In addition to this, damage to the local mobile phone network has made the problem more acute. Hundreds of workers come from West Bengal and Assam to work in tea, coppice and cardamom plantations in Mandakkai region. About 600 people came to work in Harrison Malayali Plantation Limited there. All of them are residing in Mandakkai. It seems that they are all wrong. A search has been made for them.

Meteorological department has declared red alert in five districts of Kerala. These include Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kasarogod and Kannur districts. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rains will occur in those areas in the next 24 hours. If this is the case… Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, former Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra will visit the landslide affected areas today. The families of the deceased will be visited.
