Anshuman Gaekwad: Former Indian cricketer Anshuman Gaekwad (71) passed away after a long battle with blood cancer. Gaekwad continued in international cricket between 1974-84. He played a total of 40 Tests and 15 ODI matches. He made the highest score of 201 against Pakistan in Jalandhar in 1983. Moreover.. in his ODI career he scored 1154 runs with two centuries.

Gaikwad served as the head coach of the Indian team twice between 1997-1999 and again in 2000. Under his coaching, the Indian team became the runner-up in the Champions Trophy in the year 2000. It was during his tenure as coach that Anil Kumble became the first Indian bowler to take 10 wickets in a Test innings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Gaekwad also served as a national selector and president of the Indian Cricketers Association in the 1990s.

71-year-old Gaikwad was suffering from blood cancer for a long time. He was also treated in London. In this order, BCCI has given financial assistance of Rs. Former cricketers including Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled Gaikwad’s death. Prime Minister Modi condoled on the platform of X.
