Doctors strike The incident of rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College (RG Kar Hospital) in the state of West Bengal, Kolkata, is causing great outrage across the country. Doctors have been on a large-scale strike for the past eight days to protest the incident. They are demanding that justice be done to the victim doctor by boycotting the duties. In this context, the doctors have gone on strike for 24 hours today on the call of the Indian Medical Association to protest against this incident. As a result of this, medical services have stopped all over the country and the patients are suffering a lot.

In this context, the central government responded. The protesting doctors have been asked to stop their agitation immediately. It has promised to form a committee for the safety of doctors and other staff. Union Health Ministry issued a statement to this effect on Saturday. It said that the committee can give advice and suggestions on the measures to be taken for the safety of those in the medical profession. At present, in view of increasing cases of dengue and malaria, it has been appealed to keep the public interest in mind and stop worrying and join the duties immediately.
