Heavy rains and landslides disrupted water supply in Himachal.

Saturday, August 10: Heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh cause landslides and floods, disrupt water supplies and close 128 roads. According to the state emergency call center, 44 electricity supply systems and 67 water supply systems were also damaged. An “Orange” warning is in place for heavy to very heavy rain with thunder and lightning on Saturday, while a “yellow” warning for heavy rain is in place until August 16.

Nahan (Sirmaur) recorded the highest rainfall since Friday night at 168.3 mm, followed by 106.4 mm, while other districts such as Nagroda San and Jubarhatti also received significant rainfall. The weather service has warned of low to moderate flood risk in remote areas of Mandi, Sirmaur, Shimla and Kullu districts till Sunday morning.

As part of the orange alert issued in Hamirpur district, Deputy Commissioner Amarjeet Singh asked people not to go under rivers, streams and trees during bad weather. Between June 27 and August 9, the state saw more than 100 rain-related deaths and damage to the tune of Rs 842 crore.
