Huge drug bust: Interstate drug peddlers nabbed in Hyderabad
In a landmark operation, the Commissioner’s Task Force, South West Zone team nabbed four inter-state drug peddlers in Hyderabad, leading to the seizure of narcotics worth ₹30 lakh (INR 30,00,000). This operation was conducted in the area of Habib Nagar and Asif Nagar police stations.
Case Summary
Case no. I: Habib Nagar Police Station
On the evening of September 30, 2024, according to reliable information, the authorities arrested three persons for drug dealing near Ravindra Bharti School, Mallepally. The operatives recovered *144.72 grams of Ogiweed ganjai (organic cannabis)* and *four cell phones*, valued at ₹10 lakh (INR 10,00,000) from the suspects.
Those arrested were identified as:
– *Syed Abdullah* (32), an artificial jeweler from Mallepally, Hyderabad, is accused of being a ganja dealer.
– *Anas Ahmed Shaikh* (24), a senior associate in a BPO, hails from Govandi, Mumbai and is another ganja dealer.
– Hotel management student Irfan Raju Shaikh @ Siddique* (20) of Dharve, Maharashtra was identified as a supplier of ganja.
Investigation revealed that Abdullah was addicted to ganja and sought purchases from Dhulpet before approaching Anas to buy Ogiweed ganja. Anas, along with his accomplice Irfan, arrives in Hyderabad to deliver drugs, unaware that a police operation is underway.
Case no. II: Asif Nagar Police Station
In a separate incident, the task force seized *2 kg of weed / hash oil* and a cell phone from a 32-year-old farmer, *Hantal Gobardhan@Govardhan*, of Malkangiri, Odisha. The total value of this possession is estimated at ₹20 lakhs (20,00,000 INR).
Govardhan had been working with Manoj, a supplier in Odisha for five years, delivering drugs to clients in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. During a recent delivery, he was intercepted by the police during a vehicle check near the Sai Baba Temple in Gudimalkapur, Hyderabad.

The arrests were made under the supervision of Shri G. Chandramohan, IPS, Dy. Commissioner of Police, South West Zone and Shri Ande Srinivasa Rao, Additional D. Commissioner of Police. Police Inspectors S.Bala Swamy and G.Venkateshwar along with their teams conducted this operation.
The operation underscores Hyderabad Police’s continuous efforts to combat drug trafficking and maintain public safety, reinforcing the zero-tolerance policy against illegal drugs in the region.
