A huge fire broke out in Penuganchiprolu of NTR district. 20 shops were burnt in this accident. There was heavy property damage.
The fire first broke out in a shop in the Tirupatamma temple complex shortly after midnight on Thursday. Within moments, the fire spread to the adjacent shops, causing huge flames. Locals who observed the incident informed the authorities and firemen. Firefighters reached the spot and brought the fire under control. Sarpanchi, temple officials and villagers came there in large numbers and helped to put out the fire. However, 20 shops were gutted by fire. Temple EO, Chairman and Tehsildar inspected the incident site.
As Tirupatamma Tirunallu has been held since February 5, the traders have bought a lot of supplies and stored them in the shops. Traders are complaining that the goods worth Rs.2 lakhs to Rs.3 lakhs in each shop were destroyed in the fire. In this incident, the officials are estimating that there has been a loss of property to the tune of Rs.50 lakhs in all 20 shops.
It is believed that the accident happened due to an electrical short circuit.
