Hyderabad: 17-year-old girl attacked by Rapido auto driver and friend in Begumpet; Registration of case
Hyderabad: Police have registered a case after two men attacked a 17-year-old girl in Begumpet along with the Rapido auto driver.
According to Begumpet police, a 17-year-old student had booked a Rapido Auto from Banjara Hills to her residence in Secunderabad on September 22. On arrival, the auto pickup came to the location. However, the driver asked her to take another auto.
The second autodriver ascertained her location and started the journey to Begumpet. During the journey, the auto driver called another person and picked him up at Begumpet flyover. After the pickup, the driver started driving in the wrong direction, which scared the girl. When the driver was asked to stop the auto, he refused and took her to a deserted place.
Once they reached the spot, both the driver and the passenger went to the passenger seat and gagged her. They misbehaved with her until a group of passers-by gathered. Pushing the girl from the auto, the two ran away.
The girl immediately took another auto and returned home. She was deeply hurt by this incident and did not inform her parents on the same day.
On Friday, she along with her family filed a complaint at the Begumpet police station. Based on the complaint, a case was registered under Section 87 and 74 of the BNS Act, Section 8 read with Section 7 of the POCSO Act. Police are currently investigating the case.
