The sport has its dizzying moments, which are often exciting. Wins and losses often determine whether the end result will be happy or bad. But sports can sometimes be cruel, beyond the nature of the results. This was the feeling in the hearts of Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat and more than a billion people in the world’s most populous country after he was disqualified from the women’s 50kg freestyle final. The sight of 100 grams and weighing more than 50 kilograms on the scales haunted the top wrestler for years and at that moment his chances of winning a gold medal for his country ended.
Indian shooting legend Abhinav Bindra, while sympathizing with Vinesh, says that every sport is about rules and they should be followed without exception.
“It’s an incredibly difficult situation. I honestly don’t know what to say. I mean, the rules are very clear – you can draw the line. The game always follows the rules. If you don’t regulate them, “Play by the rules, there will be no game,” Vinesh Phogat told India Today. Abhinav Bindra said when asked.
Vinesh appealed to the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which has yet to make a decision. While Bindra also crossed her fingers, she doesn’t know which way the case is going.
“But of course I have full sympathy for Vinesh. It was an incredibly difficult time for him. Everyone’s heart breaks. We are all here for you. We had a chance to get to know him.”
“I don’t know how this will end, now I know that the decision has been postponed for two days. So I think you have to be patient. I am not familiar with the arguments made. I am not a legal expert, so patience is important,” emphasized Bindra.
