Chief Justice DY Chandrachud: Chief Justice DY Chandrachud expressed extreme intolerance towards many Supreme Court lawyers. He said that at least they should understand how much pressure there is on the courts and judges. He said that if the lawyers sit in the place of the CJI one day, they will know how much pressure they are working with. CJI commented that if you sit once, you will run away from returning to that place in life.

The CJI made these comments during an inquiry into the case of cancellation of burqa and hijab by students in Mumbai’s Chembur College. Everyone wants their case to be heard first. But the CJI said that no one is in a position to care about the pressure on the judges. Justice Chandrachud suggested that we will investigate every petition.. We will give a date for it.. But don’t rule the judges and the court.
A lawyer has sought early hearing of a petition filed by the Shiv Sena (UBT) against the Maharashtra Speaker’s refusal to disqualify Ek Nath Shinde group MLAs. Although the matter was listed today, the Bench did not take it up as it was partially hearing another matter. The lawyer requested an early date of hearing as the Maharashtra Assembly elections are approaching. The court granted the time till next Thursday as the defendants sought time to compile the documents. The CJI made the above comments when the lawyer asked for an earlier date that the compilation could be prepared in three days.
