Cincinnati: Spain’s new sensation Carlos Alcaraz has lost his mind. Alcaraz, who had already made a name for himself by winning multiple Grand Slam titles, slammed the racket down in a fit of rage. Alcaraz suffered a surprise loss to Gael Monofils (France) 6-4, 6-7(5-7), 4-6 in a rain-delayed match on Friday. The Spanish star who won the first set 6-4 lost two consecutive sets to the monophiles.
Unable to control his anger, Alcaraz hit the racket until it broke into pieces. “Worst match of my career so far. I practiced a lot for this. But I could not perform up to the standard. Forget all this and go to New York for the US Open,’ he said. Alcaraz apologized for his behavior in the match against Monophiles.
