Government hospitals mean people are rushing. Atrocious incidents where dead bodies cannot be brought home while saving lives are causing concern everywhere. Recently, the incident of parents carrying the dead body of a child 120 kilometers from the hospital on a bike is shocking everyone.
Maheshwari Paderu of Kumuda village, Mutyankipottu mandal, Alluri Sitaramaraju district gave birth to a baby girl at the government hospital. The child was brought to Visakha KGH on February 2 as she was suffering from breathing problems. Since then the baby is being treated in the NICU. However, the baby died at 7.30 am on Thursday, February 16.
The parents asked the hospital owner to provide an ambulance to take the baby’s dead body to their hometown, but they refused. No matter how much he pleaded, there was no result, so Paderu traveled on a scooty. The body of the child was taken to her hometown in an ambulance from Paderu. The parents are alleging that their child’s death was due to the negligence of the hospital staff.
Speaking to the media, KGH Regional Medical Officer Vasudeva Rao said that KGH Mahaprasthanam is providing a vehicle to take the deceased to their hometown. But since the baby’s parents are tribals, they have to coordinate with the tribal health cell for the vehicle provided by ITDA. If the cell does not have a vehicle, we will provide the vehicle. But we did not get any information about the vehicle.
“We were told by the tribal cell that the parents went on their own before the vehicle was provided,” he added.
The KGH officials said that they do not have any information about the death of the baby and they want the vehicle. Superintendent of KGH said that an inquiry will be conducted and action will be taken against those responsible.
