Looking at all this.. it seems like some Hollywood thriller movie.. It is like that.. Like in the movies, here three meet in the prison. After that, they do robbery as a team. A similar situation in Japan is attracting international attention. The surprising thing is that all the three robbers are over 70 years old. As a result, this elderly trio in Japan is known as the “grandfather gang”.
According to the report of The South China Morning Post, the three elderly men have become a carafe address for crimes in Japan. The police call them “G3S”. That is.. the Japanese word for ‘grandparents’ is used. The ‘G’ group is suspected of committing a series of robberies in the northern island of Hokkaido.
Grandfather’s gang of thieves are:
Hideo Umino, 88, Hidemi Matsuda, 70, and Kenichi Watanabe, 69, are three elderly men who built their criminal empire while serving time in prison. After being released from jail, the trio engage in illegal activities and target and rob empty houses.
Last May, the gang broke into a house in Hokkaido’s capital, Sapporo. 200 yen (1.3 US dollars) in cash and three bottles of whiskey totaling 10,000 yen (65 US dollars) were stolen. The police suspect that these three have committed robbery again in the following month. This time, 24 pieces of jewelery worth one million yen (US$6,400) were seized from another vacant residence in the same area. News of crimes against a gang of elderly people has become a sensation.
