Ethiopia Landslides Triggered : Tragedy took place in southern Ethiopia. Due to heavy rains, landslides are occurring in many places. 50 people were killed in landslides at two places on Monday. The Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC) reported that women, children and local police were among the dead, said Meskin Mitku, general administrator of Gofa district in southern Ethiopia. Many people trapped under landslides were rescued by locals. They were seriously injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment. However, local officials claim that the death toll is likely to rise.

In a post shared on the Facebook account of the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation, it said that more than 20 people have died in the landslides in Gofa zone. Locals and officials shared photos of people trapped under landslides. If this is the case.. Landslides are common in southern Ethiopia. Especially during the rainy season from June to August, such incidents take place more. Tragic incidents have happened in the past in this area. In 2018, 32 people were killed in landslides in a week. In 2017, over 63 people were killed in a massive landslide on the outskirts of Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia.
