Tirupati Times, Webdesk: Due to the heavy rains in the Telugu states for the past week, the Krishna River and Godavari River are continuing to flood heavily. Both the rivers became full basins due to the accumulation of all the rain water falling in the upper reaches. In this order, the officials of the water resources department revealed that 175 gates of Dhawaleswaram Barrage were lifted and the surplus water was released into the sea. Meanwhile, the officials said that the water level of the barrage is 8 feet and all the gates have been lifted and 4.98 lakh cusecs of water has been released into the sea.
Meanwhile, it is known that 11 lakh cusecs of water was released into the sea from Dhavaleswaram barrage three days ago. However, as the water levels in the upstream projects on the Godavari river are gradually increasing, the irrigation officials are predicting that there is a possibility that more flood water will reach the Dhavaleswaram barrage.
