‘Merge Adilabad into Maharashtra’.. BJP MLA in Assembly

Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sirpur MLA P. Harish Babu said that Adilabad district must be merged with Maharashtra on Tuesday July 30 during the Telangana Legislative Assembly session. During the discussion on the demand for grants in the Telangana Assembly, he expressed his displeasure with the government’s treatment of Adilabad. Harish Babu said that the BJP would not have pressed for a separate Telangana state if it had known that Adilabad would be neglected.

He criticized the previous and subsequent governments for failing to solve the problems of the people of Adilabad while trying to attract the attention of the government for development in Adilabad. “Adilabad has a sizeable population of Marathi-speaking people, who are not averse to the merger of the district with Maharashtra. Tribal areas towards Maharashtra are fully developed. “There is no development in Adilabad district,” he demanded in the Telangana Assembly to provide funds for the development of that area.

Harish Babu asked the Legislature to form a committee that would focus on the development of backward areas and suggest solutions to remove their backwardness. He emphasized the importance of several projects including construction of Dr. BR Ambedkar Pranahita Chevella project at Tummidi Hatti and construction of Jagannathpur and Aada projects. Also, to irrigate the 11 thousand acres of Ayakattu lands, PP Rao asked to remove alluvial soil from the project. Concluding his statement in the assembly, he demanded funds for the construction of better roads in the northern Telangana region.
