Monkeypox | WHO has declared monkeypox as a global health emergency

Monkeypox | Washington, August 15: The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that the spread of the ‘Monkeypox’ virus in African countries has reached an alarming level and the situation here is of international concern. It has issued a fresh warning that it is imposing a global public health emergency. In this context, 196 member countries including India have to follow international health regulations. WHO has issued the highest level of risk alert to member countries.

WHO Chief Tedros Adhanom said, ‘We are declaring a global health emergency on the advice of the Emergency Committee.’ If infected, severe muscle pain and fever will occur.
