The vision of personality is self
No matter what level of awards Malayalam cinema gets, it always wins awards at the national level. The absence of Malayalam films in the national awards announced by YETETA is very rare. As always, this year too, Malayalam cinema has shown its strength in the National Awards. That movie is ‘Attam’. In fact, there are no known actors in this movie. The reason why this film, made by all new people, has achieved such a feat is just the concept.
This is the story of 12 artistes in a small town who do whatever they want. 11 of them are male and only one is female. Her name is Anjali. Among them, Hari, an actor, has more importance as he has also acted in movies. Because of that, others feel jealous. One day a foreign couple who are impressed by their performance, organizes a party for the entire group at their resort.
In that party everyone gets drunk. After some time they leave in the rooms assigned to them. But Anjali goes to the window in her room and sleeps sitting there. In the middle of the night, a man comes to the window where Anjali is sleeping, places his hand on the window and abuses Anjali and runs away without showing his face. It turns out that person is a member of their group. Who is that person among those 11 people? How was he identified? That is the rest of the story.
Director Anand Ikarshi has made this movie to reflect the mindset of people. He has discovered different personalities in the same man. Good-looking tigers, chameleons that change colors depending on the occasion, jackals that make sacrifices for their own survival.
All the characters in this are the ones we always look forward to in the society. Anand Ikarshi’s portrayal of the average human nature earned the film a National Award. According to the story, the actors also got involved in it and acted. It should be said that everyone lived. Director Anand Ikarshi directed this movie based on the Hollywood television program ’12 Angry Men’ released in 1954.
Nithya Menon is the National Best Actress
Nithya Menon was selected as the National Best Actress for the film ‘Tiruchitrambalam’. It is noteworthy that this is her first National Award for Best Actress. Mitharan R. Jawahar is the director of ‘Tiruchitrambalam’. Dhanush played the lead role in this movie and Nithya Menon played the amazing role of ‘Shobhana’.
Thiru (Dhanush) and Sobhana (Nitya) grow up together since childhood. Both are best friends. Thiru wishes to get married for love anyway. For that he tries every girl he likes. Shobana helps that. But every girl has bitter experiences. Shobhana is also very sad to see Thiru Avastha. On the other hand Shobhana likes Thiru unknowingly. But since Thiru does not see her like that, she hides that desire in her mind and does not express it. However.. Thiru’s grandfather comes to an opinion on the relationship between the two.
‘You are looking all over town with a child in your arms… why don’t you try the real beauty?’ Grandfather gives Thiru a small counseling. With that, Thiru starts trying on Sobhana. Shobhana is shocked to see Thiru’s changed behavior. Sobhana is confused as to how to believe in Thiru’s love who has tried so many girls before her. How did their love work out in the end? That is the rest of the story.
Dhanush and Nithya Menon acted in this movie. Nitya’s performance as a friend and as a lover is sky high. Nithya Menon’s performance especially in the flag scene is the highlight of this movie. As a middle class girl, as an educated woman working in a small company, Nithya Menon is seen in different angles. She is a character with many emotions like fun, tragedy, love. Being a good actress by nature, Nithya Menon acted wonderfully. The right award was given today for that performance.
Audience cheers for Krishnatatva
‘Kartikeya-2’ directed by Chandu Mondeti starring Nikhil as the protagonist won the best regional film at the 70th National Awards. This is the sequel of the successful movie ‘Kartikeya’. It was released in August last year. The theme of the film is the adventurous journey of Karthikeya, a young man who believes that there is an answer to every question and how far he will go to find it. This story woven in the background of Dwarka around the history of Lord Krishna is a mixture of spirituality and thrilling elements throughout. The film was well received at the pan-India level as it discussed the philosophy of Lord Krishna along with the background of Dwarka.
A beautiful journey of friends ‘unchai’
The film ‘Unchai’ directed by senior director Suraj Barjatya is impressive as an emotional story of four friends. Suraj Barjatya was selected for the best director award for this film. Amitabh Bachchan, Danny Denjoppa, Anupamkher and Boman Irani played the lead roles. Heart touching with the story of friends who take his friend’s ashes to the Himalayas to fulfill his last wish.
As much as I was happy as a director when the movie ‘Kartikeya 2’ was released, I am so happy now. This award has increased my responsibility. I would like to thank the selected jury members. ‘Karthikeya 3’ is currently under writing. This movie will surpass everyone’s expectations.. Jai Srikrishna..- Director Chandu Mondeti
