New Delhi: Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hossain Santo has promised blockbuster action in the T20I series against India, but the first match of the three-game series in Gwalior is proving otherwise. After losing the Test series, Santo vowed to make a strong comeback and promised his ‘new look team’ would play an aggressive brand of cricket, but to utter disappointment, India dominated the first innings in Gwalior.
After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Team India’s bowlers looked in a completely different mood and sent the Bangla batters to the dugout as quickly as possible. Arshdeep Singh did magic in the first over, sending the classical Litton Das to the pavilion for just 4 runs. As the Bengal Tigers began to recover from the first blow, the left-arm seamer again cleaned up opener Parvez Hossain Emon for 8 in his second over.
Santo, Tawhid Hruday rebuild, raise hopes
Skipper Santo and two-down batsman Tauhid Hridoi started to rebuild for the team, raising some hopes, but unfortunately it was short-lived. The duo put on a 26-run partnership to take the total to 40, but the 7th over of the innings again spelled trouble for the visiting team. Bangladesh suffered another blow as leg-spinner Varun Chakraborty took Hriday’s wicket at 12 runs with his magic.
First international wicket for Mayank Yadav
Indian speedster Mayank Yadav, called up for the Test series, had a dream as India continued their celebrations as he picked up his maiden international wicket by dismissing Mahmudullah for 1. It was the fourth blow for the Bangladesh team and it was unique for India as it was picked by the king of speed – Mayank.
The rest of the wickets came at regular intervals when needed, as the visitors were bowled out for just 127 in 19.5 overs. Arshdeep and Varun took three wickets each, while Hardik Pandya, Mayank and Washington Sundar took wickets each.
