Neeraj Chopra: Comparing medals by number is not correct: Neeraj

Neeraj Chopra on India Medals: Golden boy and India’s javelin hero Neeraj Chopra believes that comparing the number of medals is not correct at all. Achieving the fourth position in the Olympics is not an ordinary thing. He said that what the Indian players did not achieve in Paris cannot be underestimated. Neeraj mentioned that there are some countries which are better than us in terms of sports culture. He responded in support of the Indian Olympic team when there were claims that Paris Olympics 2024 was less than the medals of Tokyo Olympics.

Neeraj Chopra said after the javelin throw qualification competition… ‘Our team is playing well in Paris Olympics 2024. We cannot ignore those who finished fourth in the World Games. Participating in the Olympics and playing in the finals is not an ordinary thing. This is a big issue not only for us but also for other countries. There are few countries that are better than us in terms of sports culture. I heard that they are comparing the medal table with ‘Tokyo’. Don’t do that. Conditions are different everywhere. Others will prepare just like us. Admittedly, some countries are ahead of India in sports. As the game improves, India will also come forward in the medals table,’ he said.

In the qualifiers held on August 6, Neeraj Chopra took the top spot in the Group-B category by throwing the javelin at a distance of 89.34 meters in his first attempt. The men’s javelin throw final will be held today at 11.55 pm. But Manodi will face a tough competition in the final. All three finalists had better records than Neeraj’s personal best (89.94 metres). But what matters is who performs best in match day conditions. Indian fans want Neeraj Pasidi to win tonight’s final.
