suicide bomber attacks in Nigeria: The town of Gwoja in the Northeast Borno state of Nigeria was rocked by the blast of bombs. 18 people were killed and more than 50 others were injured in the series of attacks carried out by suspected female suicide bombers. A wedding, a funeral and a hospital were targeted in the attacks in Gwoja town, the head of the state emergency management agency said. In these bomb blasts that took place on Saturday, the first bomb blast took place at a wedding ceremony in Gwoja. Later, a series of explosions occurred at the hospital, where a funeral was taking place.

The local people ran away due to the continuous bomb blasts. The dead bodies were scattered. Rescue teams have taken action at the scene. The injured have been shifted to hospitals and are being treated. However, the number of dead is likely to increase as the condition of many of them is critical. Officials suspect that suicide bombers are behind this incident.

Borno state has been at the center of a decade-long Islamist insurgency. Over the years, the region has seen frequent attacks by Boko Haram and its affiliate, the Islamic State in West Africa Province. Thousands of people have already lost their lives in these attacks. 20 lakh people became homeless. Gwoza was taken over by Boko Haram in 2014. However, the Nigerian Army, backed by the Chadian Army, took control of the area. However, regular attacks on civilians and security forces continue.

Speaking about the latest incident, Borno State Emergency Management Agency Head Barkindo Saidu said that among the dead were children and adults as well as a pregnant woman. It is said that the dead bodies were scattered due to the bomb blasts. The injured are being treated. However, no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks. Officials are investigating the incident.
