However.. It is customary in Tirumala temple to conduct Alwar Thirumanjanam on Tuesday before Ugadi, Anivara Asthanam, Brahmotsavam and Vaikuntha Ekadashi festivals.

Alwar Tirumanjanam will be conducted by the priests of Tirumala on April 2 from 6 am to 11 am. Starting from Ananda Nilayam to Bangaruwakili, the sub-temples inside the Srivari temple, the temple premises, the potu, the walls, the roof and all the equipment and other things are washed clean with water. During this time Swami’s moolavirattu is completely covered with cloth.

After purification, holy perfumed water mixed with spices such as namakopu, srichurnam, musk turmeric, pachaku, gadda camphor, sandalwood powder, saffron, kichiligadda etc. is spread throughout the temple. After that, a special pooja is performed by putting a cloth over the head of the lord. Sacrifices are performed scientifically by the priests. After that, devotees are allowed to visit. That means on April 2 after 11 am, devotees will have a chance to visit Swami.
