PM Modi : Paetongtarn Shinawatra, daughter of former Prime Minister Thaksin of Thailand, has been elected as the new Prime Minister of that country. The Parliament of Thailand elected her as the Prime Minister. She became the prime minister at the age of 37. She is recognized as the youngest prime minister in the country. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the new Thai Prime Minister on Sunday.
Shinawatra wished him a successful tenure. The Prime Minister said that he is looking forward to working with India and Thailand to further strengthen bilateral relations. Her aunt Yingluck also served as Prime Minister of Thailand before Petongtarn Shinawatra. It is noteworthy that Petongtarn is the second woman to hold the post of Prime Minister of Thailand after her.
Thailand’s Prime Minister Shreta Thawisin was recently removed by the Constitutional Court. Shinawatra was elected Prime Minister for two days after that. Both belong to Phew Thai Party.
