Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday wrote an emotional letter to javelin sensation Neeraj Chopra’s mother, who sent home-made churma, a Haryana delicacy, for the prime minister.

“Yesterday I had the opportunity to meet Neeraj at a dinner hosted by the Prime Minister of Jamaica. My joy knew no bounds when you gave me the Churma Neeraj you had prepared. After having it I could not resist writing to you. I felt very emotional. This gift you sent for me reminded me of my mother,” PM wrote to Saroj Devi.

He said that mother is the epitome of strength, compassion and sacrifice.

“Receiving your prasad on Navratri is a coincidence. Me Churma became my staple food during fasting. Just as your churma gave strength to Neeraj and helped the country win medals, it will give me strength to fast for the next nine days,’ Modi said.

In the same letter, the Prime Minister assured the women that they will continue to work with dedication to achieve the goal of a developed India.
