Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Wayanad region of Kerala.. Will the demand of the state government be fulfilled?
PM Modi: It is known that hundreds of people lost their lives due to landslides in Wayanad state of Kerala recently due to heavy rains. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Wayanad victims today. Relief and rehabilitation measures will be reviewed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who left Delhi for Kerala, will reach Kannur at 11 am. Aerial survey of landslide prone area in Wayanad. Modi will visit the landslide area at 12:15 pm. Modi will visit relief camps and hospitals.

Modi will speak with the victims and survivors of the landslides. In the afternoon, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will review the relief measures with Kerala CM and senior officials. However, the Kerala government and opposition parties in the state want to consider the Wayanad disaster as a national disaster. In this meeting, they will once again ask the Prime Minister to declare it as a national calamity. The Kerala government has already asked the Center to provide financial assistance of 2000 crores to get out of the Wayanad disaster.

On July 30, 226 people were killed in the landslide incident in Wayanad, while 197 body parts were found by rescue workers. 78 people are receiving treatment in hospitals. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi thanked Prime Minister Modi for going to Wayanad to learn about the terrible tragedy. Rahul said that this is a good decision. Rahul Gandhi expressed hope that once the Prime Minister saw the destruction firsthand, he would declare it a national disaster. On August 1, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi visited Vadras in Wayanad.
