Vinesh Phogat: Indian star wrestler Vinesh Phogat has been disqualified from the Paris Olympics. With this, her hopes of winning a medal were dashed. Vinesh created history as the first Indian woman wrestler to reach the final in the history of Olympics. While the whole of India was eagerly waiting for her to win either gold or silver, the fans were shocked when she was disqualified before the final match. She was disqualified for being 100 grams overweight.
Famous badminton player Saina Nehwal responded to this. Speaking to NDTV, she said that the country is depressed. She said that she was very excited about winning the medal for two or three days. Every athlete trains for the moment of winning a medal at the Olympics and knows what it feels like to win that moment. Saina said that as an athlete, she is at a loss for words to describe it. She expressed hope that Vinesh is a fighter and she will definitely bring a medal to the country next time.

“She is an experienced player. She knows what is right and what is wrong. I don’t know much about wrestling. I don’t know if the Indian Olympics Committee has appealed the result. Not sure if she did anything wrong. That too before the final. She practiced very intensely. She gave her 100 percent effort.’ Said Saina Nehwal.
“Usually mistakes like this do not happen at this level. How this happened is questionable. This is not her first Olympics. The Olympics are in the ring for the third time. As an athlete she has a clear understanding of the rules. I don’t know exactly where the mistake happened. I’ve never heard of disqualification for weight gain in a big event like this before. There must have been a mistake somewhere on Vinesh’s side as well. She also has to take responsibility for this. Such a mistake before such a big match is not appropriate.’ Saina said.
Anand Mahindra’s post on Vinesh Phogat’s disqualification..
They should answer..
Vinesh Phogat became the champion in Asian Games and Commonwealth Games. There must have been a mistake from Vinesh too. Because before such a big match one is careful to keep the weight within permissible limits. How could such a mistake be made? Only she or her coach can answer that. But I am disappointed that we definitely missed out on a medal,” said Saina.
