India got another medal in Paris Olympics 2024. So far India has won 6 medals. Indian wrestler Aman Sehrawat bagged the bronze medal in men’s freestyle 57 kg weight category. Aman defeated Puerto Rico’s Darien Toye Cruz 13-5 in the bronze medal match. Aman Sehrawat’s Olympic journey has been fraught with hardships. Let’s know his story now.

21-year-old Aman Sehrawat’s journey to the Olympics has not been easy. Aman Sehrawat lost his parents in his childhood. Belonging to a Jat family, Aman hails from Birohar in Jhajjar district of Haryana. He lost his parents when he was 11 years old. Earlier, Aman’s mother died of a heart attack when he was ten years old. A year later his father also died.

After this.. Aman, his younger sister Pooja Sehrawat are under the care of their elder uncle Sudhir Sehrawat. After the tragic death of his parents, Aman was deeply depressed. So grandfather Mangeram Sehrawat took care of him. Aman played an important role in recovery.

Amidst all this, Aman maintained his passion for wrestling. He started training under coach Lalit Kumar. Aman burst into limelight in 2021 by winning his first national championship title. Aman won a bronze medal in the 57 kg category at the 2022 Asian Games. It was followed by a gold medal in the 2023 Asian Wrestling Championship. In January 2024.. he brought glory to the country by winning gold medal in Zagreb Open Wrestling Tournament. Aman is the only male wrestler from India to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
