Telangana: Special drive for defaulters: Ponnam

In Telangana, the Congress government is implementing a loan waiver of up to Rs. 2 lakh as per the election promise. Many farmers have already benefited from loan waiver. However, in some places, due to some reasons, the loan waiver did not happen. Such farmers are deeply worried. Minister Ponnam Prabhakar assured such farmers. Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said in a statement that a month-long special drive will be conducted for those who are eligible and whose loans were not waived due to technical reasons.

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar clarified that all those who are eligible for loan waiver will be given white ration cards. He condemned the criticism of former minister Harish Rao on loan waiver, farmer insurance etc. When Harish Rao was the finance minister, he said that the crop loans of 3 lakh farmers were not waived citing technical reasons. Minister Ponnam Prabhakar reminded that during the then BRS government, many farmers committed suicide due to lack of crop insurance and compensation. He said that if the call centers installed now were installed then, it would have been good for the farmers. He said that collection centers were set up only then.
