Tragedy.. Popular actress Aparna passed away

Popular Kannada actress, television presenter and former radio jockey Aparna Vastare passed away on Thursday night, sources close to her said. The 57-year-old Kannada actress has been battling lung cancer for the past two years, her husband Nagaraj Vastare said. She is known for her work as a commentator on DD Chandana, several government programs as well as various programmes. She has a strong fan following due to her perfect diction in Kannada. In 1998, as part of Diwali celebrations, she created a record by performing shows for eight hours simultaneously. She made her film debut in 1984 with Puttanna Kanagal’s last film ‘Masanada Hoovu’. Acted in many Kannada TV shows.

Aparna Vastare is also the voice in Bengaluru metro advertisements. She appeared in the Kannada reality television show Bigg Boss. Her role as ‘Varalakshmi’ in the popular comedy show ‘Maja Talkies’ was appreciated by the public. Many film, television, literary and political personalities including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah have condoled Vastare’s death. “I am saddened to hear the news of the death of actress and popular commentator Aparna. A versatile person who became a household name in the state by presenting beautifully in Kannada language on major Kannada channels and government programs has left us,” Siddaramaiah posted on X.
