Video: Matchbox sari for Vijayawada Durgamma presented by handloom artist

A devotee named Vijay, a handloom artist from Sirisilla district in Telangana state, on Monday presented a matchbox-sized silk saree to the Sri Kanakadurga temple on Indrakiladri in Vijayawada, NTR district. The temple priests performed special pooja for this saree made of gold and silver. On this occasion, Vijay said that five grams of gold and ten grams of silver were used to weave this saree with fine silk threads. It is explained that this saree weighs 100 grams, and he prayed to the goddess to save the handloom profession. Nalla Vijay from Sirisils is a handloom artist who has shown his talent on many occasions. Vijay is also credited with making a fragrant silver saree in the past. It is reported that Vijay has given a saree to Tirumala two days ago.
