Vijayawada: Infra boost for Kanakadurga temple with Rs.195 crores

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh government is developing Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam, popularly known as Kanakadurga temple in Vijayawada with a cost of Rs.195 crores. 70 crores will be spent by the state government and the remaining Rs. Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue Minister Kottu Satyanarayana said that 125 crores will be provided from the temple trust money. The Chief Minister said that these funds have been allocated for the construction of facilities in view of the increasing number of devotees of Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Devasthanam.

It is said that the works have been completed with Rs.15 crores and the construction of Prasada Potu and Annadanam Bhavan (Bhojan Mandir) will be completed with Rs.55 crores. Construction of Pooja Mandap with Rs.6 Crores, installation of Solar Power Plant in the temple premises, etc., were other decisions taken in the meeting. He said that the temple authorities have taken up some works to ensure that the stones do not fall when the pilgrims visit the goddess. He said that an additional Rs.125 crore will be allocated for the multi-level queue complex, the bridge connected to it, Annadanam Bhavan and other development works.

The Minister said that an Expression of Interest (EOI) has been sought to construct a mechanized multi-level car park worth Rs 60 crore under Build Operate Transfer (BOT) mode at one entrance.
