Vinesh Phogat – Mahavir Phogat : Indian star wrestler Vinesh Phogat was unexpectedly disqualified when she thought she would create history by winning the gold medal. The whole of India was shocked when she was disqualified hours before the final bout. Vinesh was 100 grams more than the prescribed weight and was disqualified by the Olympics Committee. The Olympics officials rejected the Indian officials’ request to give her some more time.
Legendary wrestler, her paternal grandfather and coach Mahavir Phogat reacted to Vinesh Phogat’s disqualification. He spoke to ANI. In fact there have been cases in the past where a wrestler was allowed to participate despite being 50 to 100 grams overweight. They said that one day she will present the medal to the country.

‘I have nothing to say. The whole country was waiting for Vinesh Phogat to bring the gold medal. Any wrestler who is 50-100 grams overweight is allowed to play. However.. the rules were like that, so it happened. People of the country should not be disappointed. She will definitely win a medal for the country one day. She will be prepared for the next Olympics.’ Mahaveer said.
Vinesh Phogat is competing in the women’s freestyle 50 kg category. They reached the final after winning the semifinals on Tuesday. Overnight, she gained two kilos more than her target weight. Anna stopped drinking to lose weight. She did jogging, cycling and skipping all night without losing sleep. However, during the weighing tests, she was 100 grams more than her prescribed weight. Due to this, she was disqualified.
