Visa applications: Thousands of Palestinians have been killed in the ongoing war between Israel and Gaza. Many are applying for visas to many countries seeking resettlement as refugees. Many Palestinians have also applied for Australian visas. But Australia rejects those applications.
Recent reports indicate that the number of applications for Australian visas by Palestinians is being rejected. At the same time, it is noteworthy that visa applications of citizens of Australia and Israel are being approved. Home Minister Tony Burko stated that 10,000 Palestinians have applied for Australian visas so far.
According to a media report, 10,033 Palestinians have applied for Australian visas. Of these, 2,922 visas were approved while 7,111 were rejected. 235 visa applications of Israeli citizens were rejected while 8,646 were approved. In a recent meeting held by members of the Australian Coalition Parliament, they wanted to confirm that they do not support Hamas.
It has been decided to tighten the scrutiny of visa applications from Gaza. However, it is reported that the country’s opposition leader, Peter Dutton, said at the meeting that the entry of Palestinians would be a threat to Australia’s national security.
