Visakhapatnam: The poor are the targets of the gang who are giving kidneys by hoping for money
VISAKHAPATNAM: A kidney smuggling gang forcibly collected a kidney from a 32-year-old man in Visakhapatnam. The incident came to light when Gurujalla Vinay approached the Palem police saying that he was cheated by this gang. Illegal kidney transplant was done in Pendurthi area in December 2022. However, this came to light a few days ago when a victim from Vambe Colony in Maduravada filed a complaint.
Vinay said that auto rickshaw driver Kamaraju came to him and told him that they were looking for a kidney donor. After that, they introduced Vinay to some people and promised to give them Rs.8.5 lakhs to donate a kidney. Vinay was taken to a private center in October 2022 for some tests. But Vinay ran away to Hyderabad fearing to donate a kidney.
Vinay returned to Visakhapatnam in December 2022. He was kidnapped by Kamaraju, Elina and Srinu and taken to Tirumala Hospital near Pendurthi in Vizag. Vinay underwent an operation and the doctors removed his kidney on December 16, 2022. Vinay then reached his home by taxi.
While Vinay is in the hospital, Kamaraju and his team give an envelope to Vinay’s mother. He said that there is Rs.5 lakh in it. But when it was opened, there was only Rs. 2.5 lakhs. Vinay’s family members search for Kamaraju and his team. But this gang disappeared in Vizag city.
